Vasili Carrillo highlighted the importance of the news agency, which on June 16th will celebrate 65 years of uninterrupted work in favor of the truth and the just causes of the nations.
“The great importance of this agency lies precisely in the fact that for decades it has been able to break information blockades that the great economic and political powers of the world exercise through the media,” said Carrillo, who highlighted the active role of Prensa Latina taking the news abroad about the transformative movement of the Popular Unity government of President Salvador Allende.
He said, “Prensa Latina was also important to publicize the struggle of the Chilean people against the dictatorship imposed by Augusto Pinochet in 1973, until the end of the military regime in 1990.”
According to the members of the Group, Prensa Latina offers coherent and objective information regarding the Cuban revolutionary process and everything that happens in the world, particularly about our struggles in Latin America.
Another internationalist, Mauricio Leal stated that the agency always reports and covers news that matters at a regional and global level and highlighted the excellent and historical relations between the Chilean movement of solidarity with Cuba and the agency’s office, which was installed in Santiago de Chile in the 70s of the last century and remains to this day after a pause during Pinochet military dictatorship.
