Cuba ratified interest in cooperation with Eurasian Economic Union

Havana, Jun 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero ratified his country's commitment to expand and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation ties with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU in Spanish).

During his virtual intervention at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, the head of government underscored the great importance that the Caribbean nation attaches to economic, trade, financial and cooperation relations with the EAEU and its member states.

Marrero advocated achieving greater coordination to develop joint projects in areas of common interest, for which he considered, as fundamental, a more systematic and effective relationship between the ministries and sectorial agencies of the Commission and the member and observer nations.

He indicated that in agriculture and agro-industry areas, there are opportunities that Cuba and Belarus have been exploring for years.

“The businesses that we manage to develop will also contribute to the export of Cuban products to the EAEU member countries,” he said.

He commented that greater links in those spheres would also promote foreign investment in the development of animal production, such as chicken, cattle, pork, citrus, fruit, sugar, cocoa, and coffee.

Likewise, he added, it would boost the development of grains and seeds and the joint creation of veterinary vaccines.

The Prime Minister pointed out that exchanges should be promoted between the structures of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the businessmen of the countries of the Union, and Cuba, to establish direct links for the promotion of trade, and foreign investment.
