According to an estimate of the Ministry of Tourism, during that period, 1,265,830 foreigners arrived in the country to spend their vacations and 745,812 cruise ship passengers arrived at its ports.
For this entity, this is a historic result and even more relevant because it reflects the recovery of the leisure industry in Jamaica, while it predicted a sustained growth during the summer in destinations such as Montego Bay.
The Jamaican government projects the collection of more than 4.3 million dollars from tourism during the 2023-2024 fiscal year and, if achieved, will close the period with the highest revenues in its history in that sector.
These earnings will be generated by the expected arrival of almost three million vacationers, 1.34 million of whom will come on cruise ships.
In this regard, recently the Minister of Industry, Edmund Bartlett, revealed the recovery of most of the communities, commerce and other activities linked to the so-called smokeless industry, after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
