The people of Sancti Spiritus live attached to their traditions without dismissing breakthrough and modernity as a city that in the 16th century was the bond between the east and west of Cuba.

On the verge of the festivity, the bell ringer -who plays the carillons- of the Biggest Parish of Espiritu Santo makes the tolling reach the farthest places of the town as a welcome to the new foundational anniversary.

The Catholic temple with over three centuries of existence is one of the best preserved in Cuba, and in its dome as trophies of time are four campaigns cast in gold, silver and bronze by artisans of Trinidad, Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

In the small community of Pueblo Viejo, the first rebellious action occurred to fight off the Spanish crown. There, six kilometers east of present-day Sancti Spiritus, Fray Bartolome de las Casas denounced the Spanish barbarism against the aboriginal population by the time of its founding mass.
