Entitled ¨Desde Avellaneda hacia la liberación del hombre iluminado por el faro del socialismo¨ (From Avellaneda towards the liberation of man lighted by the lighthouse of socialism), this entity published a reminder of Massetti´s life and work, who left a deep mark in Argentina, Cuba and Latin America.

Comandante Segundo was born in 1929 in Buenos Aires, and passed away in Salta in 1964, after disappearing in the Oran jungle where he arrived in to continue his guerrilla struggle.

Earlier, in 1958, he became the first Argentine to reach the Sierra Maestra and interview Ernesto Guevara (1928-1967) and Fidel Castro (1926-2016).

Since then, his life was linked to Cuba and a year later, after the triumph of the Revolution, he called Rodolfo Walsh (1927-1977) to found, alongside Che Guevara, a news agency at the service of the truth.

Recently, the Secretary-General of the Buenos Aires Press Union, Agustín Lecchi, heaped praise on his journalistic instinct, commitment to profession and truth.

The Director of Resumen Latinoamericano Carlos Aznárez, on the other hand, said Masetti wanted to confront disinformation because he strongly believed it was necessary for the voices of those who struggle to be heard.

He made it possible for Prensa Latina to be a school of revolutionary, Latin American and anti-imperialist journalism.

Together with Che, he built a fundamental weapon to destroy actions against the Cuban Revolution. The creation of this media was a feat, he said.

To fight for socialism and win, it is necessary to take risks as they did. Today we are going through very difficult times, but we charged our batteries in the university march. Masetti today would be in the street, with the workers. That is why it is necessary to recover his memory, he added.
