Chinese National Defense Ministry Spokesman Wu Qian told a press conference that the meeting took place in Singapore, as part of the Shangri-La Ministerial Talks.

Wu said that regarding relations between the Chinese and US armed forces, Minister Dong Jun noted that the current situation of stabilization was achieved with effort and should be valued.

The purpose of communication between the two armies must be to improve understanding, eliminate misunderstandings, build mutual trust and thus achieve stable relations.

We cannot ignore the facts, blame or even take the opportunity to slander and repress, the spokesman stated.

International media reported that during the meeting, Austin also emphasized the importance of maintaining open channels of communication between the armed services from the two countries.

The 21st Shangri-La Talks on security and defense will be held in Singapore until June 3.
