The spokeswoman noted that on May 28, the Russian Embassy in Warsaw was told that, as of June 1, it must notify the Foreign Ministry in advance of the intention of the mission’s employees in the Polish capital, and of the consulates in Gdansk, Krakow and Poznan, to travel out of province.
Russia will take retaliatory measures against the Polish Embassy in Moscow and consulates in the cities of Irkutsk, Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg, the senior official added.
With its strange decisions, the Polish Foreign Ministry will create another inconvenience for its colleagues, Polish diplomats working in Russia, Zakharova told reporters.
The spokeswoman also noted that “the press release does not contain any explanation of the measures being taken,” and added that there are exceptions for the ambassador, consuls general and the head of the embassy’s consular section.
In addition, Zakharova assured that this is not the first step by Polish authorities to complicate the work of Russian diplomats in Poland as much as possible.
