Political campaigning is on halt in Mexico before federal elections

Mexico, May 30 (Prensa Latina) Political campaigning came to a halt in Mexico from 00:00 hours, local time, on Thursday, before the June 2 federal elections.

Since Thursday, candidates cannot engage in campaigning activities or place or distribute electoral propaganda. The pollsters could not disseminate more results of voter preferences.

The distribution and placement of electoral propaganda, which must be eliminated three days before the election, is also banned, according to the General Law of Electoral Institutions and Procedures.

Claudia Sheinbaum, candidate from the Sigamos Haciendo Historia (Let’s Continue Making History) coalition, ended her electoral campaign on Wednesday, in a festive atmosphere for the presidential elections on Sunday, June 2.

In the capital’s Zocalo Square, Sheinbaum promised the citizens to rule the country with humility and great responsibility.

The candidate from the coalition made up the MORENA Party, the Labor Party, and the Green Party reviewed her government program, which includes proposals for health, education, economy, security, corruption, and social issues.

About 100 million Mexicans are called to vote on June 2 to renew the Presidency of the Republic, the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies, and the governorships of Chiapas, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Morelos, Puebla, Tabasco, Veracruz, Yucatan, and Mexico City.
