Leader of Islamic Revolution of Iran meets with Syrian president

Damascus, May 30 (Prensa Latina) President Bashar Al-Assad paid a visit to Iran, where he gave his condolences to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, over the death of President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

The Iranian people were in the mind and conscience of President Raisi who also felt great affection for Syria and its people, Al-Assad was quoted by SANA national news agency today.

He also stressed that Abdollahian played an diplomatic role between Iran and Syria and left an important imprint on the consolidation of stability in the region.

The leader considered that this loss will not affect Iran’s approach and support for the resistance and the Palestinian people, and assured that relations between Damascus and Tehran will remain strong.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution thanked President al-Assad for his visit to Tehran and stressed that Raisi and Abdollahian played a leading role in strengthening Tehran-Damascus relations.

On May 19, President Ebrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister Hossein Abdollahian died when their helicopter crashed in East Azerbaijan province.
