According to a press release from the military, the ballistic missiles were launched from the Sunan area, near Pyongyang, the capital, at 6:14 a.m. on Thursday, lol time, and flew some 350 kilometers before falling into the sea.
So far, no official DPRK media has either confirmed or denied the event.
The statement gives account that the South Korean military is sharing information regarding the missiles with US and Japanese officials.
The development comes after the DPRK on Monday launched the Malligyong-1-1 military reconnaissance, contested by the United States and South Korea, but claimed by Pyongyang as a necessity to strengthen its defense system.
Also on Tuesday, the DPRK released hot-air balloons containing leaflets and debris into South Korea, in response to a similar act perpetrated a few days ago by Seoul.
