Last May 22, China’s Ministry of Commerce announced the inclusion of several U.S. firms involved in arms sales to Taiwan in the list of untrustworthy entities, as well as the decision to take the corresponding measures for that case.
In this regard, Zhu explained Wednesday at a press conference that this is a normal police action taken by the Chinese government, in accordance with the law.
The spokesman recalled that the Defense, Space and Security Group of the U.S. company Boeing; in addition to other firms, including General Atomics Aeronautical Systems and General Dynamics Land Systems, have repeatedly sold missiles, military drones, tanks and other offensive weapons to Taiwan, in order to tolerate support for the independence of that Chinese territory.
The separatist forces have seriously damaged China’s security, national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and gravely violated the One China principle and the three Sino-U.S. joint statements, especially the “August 17 Communique,” thus undermining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, Zhu stressed.
