On a press conference, Andrade noted that the 112th session of the Conference of the International Labor Organization (ILO), from June 3 to 14, in Geneva, Switzerland, will be another perfect setting to struggle against the illegal closure of 18 bank accounts and the persecution of leaders of the National Union of Workers in the Construction and Similar Industries (SUNTRACS).
The secretary-general indicated that illegal and arbitrary measure of the state savings bank, in league with the Government, entrepreneurs and the banking sector for the last six months, is being aimed at intimidating one of the leading groups in the struggles against open-pit metal mining in October and November 2023.
He said that this claim will be made at the sessions of the ILO’s sub-regional office for Central America and other competent authorities, he added.
On speaking to national and foreign media, Andrade further called on the groups that make up CONUSI to demonstrate in solidarity with SUNTRACS in upcoming protest actions such as a nationwide shutdown on Thursday and a march to the Presidency of the Republic on June 6.
