One million Palestinians fled Rafah in just three weeks

Ramallah, May 28 (Prensa Latina) One million people fled the city of Rafah in the last three weeks as a result of the Israeli ground offensive over the southern Gaza Strip, the UN denounced Tuesday.

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) reiterated on X that there is nowhere safe in Gaza.

The entity criticized the ‘bombing, lack of food and water, piles of waste and inadequate living conditions’. Day after day, providing assistance and protection becomes almost impossible in Gaza.

‘Once again, children in Gaza sifting through burnt rubble, seven months of children killed in their sleep, seven months of forced displacement, seven months of attacks on schools and shelters, seven months of terror.

There are no excuses. This will continue.

A ceasefire is needed NOW,’ UNRWA stated.

On X, UNRWA released parts of an interview with the Canadian CBC of its spokeswoman there, Louise Wateridge, who denounced the situation in Rafah.

‘The feeling in Gaza is so desperate that people are saying: they didn’t kill me today, but it will probably be tomorrow.’

‘It was proven once again that no matter where people are, where families and children are sheltering, they are not safe in Gaza, Wateridge said.
