On an interview with Emisoras Unidas, Jimenez remarked there are a series of factors that lead one to think that something could be happening, as there are undemocratic interests willing the government not to succeed.
The minister ruled out that this is a new issue, and recalled that at other times, such as during the presidencies of Alvaro Colom (2008-2012) and Oscar Berger (2004-2008), violence and gangs were used to generate instability.
The minister also commented on the killing a few days ago of an 18-year-old content creator and the fact that content began to appear on social media, as ‘an articulation to attack us,’ he stressed.
There are also some other incidents that have to do with other homicides, Jimenez said pointing out that in previous months there had been a decline in homicides compared to previous administrations. Jimenez insisted that destabilization hypothesis cannot be left aside, because there are many actors who are trying to put forward the narrative that there is a situation of insecurity that is out of control.
