“Netanyahu deliberately wastes time to avoid a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip,” the parliamentarian said in statements to the Palestinian media outlet Al Quds.
“The ultimate goal is to prevent the fall of his government,” said Tibi, alluding to the growing protests in Israel against the war and in favor of a prisoner exchange with Hamas.
In his opinion, Israel failed to achieve its stated goals of defeating Hamas after nearly eight months of fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking yesterday before the Knesset (Parliament), Netanyahu once again justified the military operation in Gaza amid constant boos from the opposition and relatives of prisoners of the Palestinian militia. He also rejected accusations regarding his denial to end the conflict and reach an agreement for political reasons.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid boycotted the prime minister’s speech on more than one occasion, demanding that he “assume responsibility” and resign.
