The vote on the proposal, presented at the end of February by four left-wing parties, accumulated 83 votes against, 21 in favor and two abstentions, according to a brief statement on the Danish Parliament’s official website.
Previously, Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen assured in April, during the first vote in the legislature, that Copenhagen was not considering the issue because ‘the preconditions do not exist.’
Following the decision by Madrid, Dublin and Oslo, 146 UN member States now recognize the State of Palestine, while Malta and Slovenia have also announced that they could do so in the near future and, in the last month, Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and the Bahamas have informed of this decision.
