Families, social leaders and soup kitchen workers gathered near that place and demanded the delivery of the products stored there and in Tafí Viejo, in Tucumán, to the centers that serve vulnerable people.
The day before, federal judge Sebastián Casanello ordered the Ministry of Human Capital to present a report with the amount of food it maintains in those locations and an immediate distribution plan.
Casanello gave a period of 72 hours to that State portfolio, directed by Sandra Pettovello, and indicated to take into account the expiration dates and the types of items for their distribution.
However, the Government appealed, considering that “it is not a question of a judicial nature, but of public policy.”
During the demonstration on this day, the leader of Argentina Humana, Juan Grabois, denounced that food rots while many people go hungry and recalled that in this country there are 55 percent poor and 18 percent indigent.
“They want to cause a situation of chaos. It is a disgusting thing that there are millions of kilograms of food a few meters away and back here there are empty soup kitchens,” he said.
It is a lie that the products that are here are for emergencies and climate catastrophes. In the purchase orders he says that they were purchased to be delivered to dining rooms and picnic areas. They are being stolen, he added.
