According to meteorologist María Cosme, the first tropical wave is expected to enter the country tonight.
“Tropical wave No. 1 of the season remains under surveillance, which is east of Colombia and has a displacement between 28 to 27 kilometers per hour. It must be entering our latitudes at night,” said the expert.
The day before, the Imhpa issued a surveillance warning for heavy rains in different sectors of Panamanian territory, valid until next Wednesday and with emphasis on the provinces of Panama, Veraguas, Colón, Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro.
These atmospheric conditions are also expected for the provinces of Coclé and Panamá Oeste.
The good news, according to other analysts, is that after a prolonged drought in 2023 and the El Niño phenomenon (January-April 2024), the downpours will feed the reservoirs of the Panama Canal, which facilitates its operations, including potable water supply for over 50 percent of the population. ef/oda/ga
