Congresswoman of Peru points to US as the real promoter of terrorism

Lima, May 27 (Prensa Latina) Peruvian congresswoman Silvana Robles today condemned the existence of a list of countries supposedly sponsoring terrorism prepared by the United States, whose government, she pointed out, sponsors this criminal practice.

The president of the Peru-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship League made the comment in an interview with Prensa Latina, in which she rejected the inclusion of the Caribbean nation in that list, which aggravates the economic, commercial and financial blockade, she asserted.

“In principle, the existence of this list is condemnable, conceived by the State that in the name of democracy promotes terrorist practices in all countries that have had the courage to exercise their sovereignty, and give themselves forms of government contrary to the rule of the empire” , she told this news agency.

She added that the emblematic example of this infamy is the overthrow of Chilean president, Salvador Allende, immolated when he was overthrown by a bloody military coup promoted by Washington.

The legislator added that, contrary to what the United States maintains, “the image that democrats and internationalists have about Cuba is that of a supportive country that promotes peace,” as it has done in the case of Colombia.

Robles described as confusing the recent announcement of Cuba’s withdrawal from the list of countries that do not fully cooperate with the fight against terrorism and she demanded that this nation be removed from the unilateral list of alleged state sponsors of this practice.

She considered it outrageous to point the finger at the Island in this way and asserted that “the United States does not have the authority to accuse anyone of interventionist and terrorist practices” that are part of its interventionist arsenal.

She also commented on the statement by the head of the Southern Command of the North American Armed Forces, Laura Richardson, that in Latin America “there are enemies of democracy.”

“You are right, those enemies are your government and the ultraconservative and fascist groups that the United States sponsors in our countries,” the parliamentarian stated in this regard.

She stressed that Cuba is and has always been supportive and the United States keeps it on its infamous list, also as part of its policy “of harassment and discredit against the Cuban Revolution” and in order to isolate the government from the people.

She also believed that the hateful anti-Cuban propaganda campaign of the United States lacks credibility because the world, and in particular Peru, “is witness to Cuban solidarity, because there is no people on earth, even in the first world, who have not received the attention of Cuban medical brigades.”
