In a statement, the organization pointed out that Contreras´ death means a big loss for his values and great devotion.
From the very beginning of his education, Contreras has dedicated to the cause of the Cuban people, Revolution and work, without giving up a single day in this endeavor. “Eduardo Contreras remains in every young voice that vibrates when holding a Cuban flag in his hands… and joins the voices for justice and freedom of the peoples”, the communiqué assures.
The lawyer went down in Chilean history because he was the first, alongside communist leader Gladys Marín, to file a lawsuit against dictator Augusto Pinochet for human rights violations committed after the 1973 coup d’état.
