As an iron brother and strategic partner of China, Pakistan has always extended its support of principle to China’s position on Taiwan and will continue to do so, the Pakistani chief minister wrote on social networking site X.

He said the so-called elections or transition of the self-proclaimed government in Taiwan did not change the objective facts on the issue of that region.

Pakistan adheres to the One China policy, considers Taiwan an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China, and backs up Beijing’s efforts for national reunification, he added.

Recently, President Asif Ali Zardari said his country had made this decision because it always chooses to be on the right side of history.

In an interview on the 73rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Pakistani leader also recalled the historical ties that have united the two nations.

He also reaffirmed that Pakistan will always support China in safeguarding its core interests.
