These people (28 men and three women), who were handed over to Cuban authorities the day before, had been intercepted at sea after being involved in two illegal departures, one through Havana and the other through Matanzas.
One of those returned was on probation for the fulfillment of a criminal sanction at the time of leaving the island and will be placed at the disposal of the corresponding courts for the revocation of that benefit, detailed the note of the Minint.
Another was transferred to the investigative body for allegedly committing a crime, which was being investigated prior to his involvement in the illegal departure.
With this return, there are 41 operations from different countries in the region, and 601 people returned in 2024.
