With this addition, IDRA brings the total number of countries and 28 intergovernmental and research organizations to 37, reflecting a growing commitment to address drought in the face of climate change and unsustainable land management.

Launched at the COP27 UN Climate Summit, IDRA is hosted by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al Fadley said that holding the Unccd COP16 Conference of the Parties in his country reflects its commitment to environmental protection at the national, regional and international levels.

Al Fadley stressed the urgent need to build resilience to drought globally, while combating land degradation and desertification to counteract its environmental, economic and social impacts.
