Foreign loans improve Bolivia’s life quality

La Paz, May 23 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia's Development Planning Minister Sergio Cusicanqui assured on Thursday the projects backed up by external credits approved by the Plurinational Legislative Assembly (ALP) improve the living conditions of the population.

‘Around 32 bills linked to external financing have been passed, which are equivalent to an amount of approximately $USD 3.8 billion, and around $USD 1.7 billion have already been disbursed (…),’ he said at a press conference.

The minister specified that this means that 45% of those external financing resources have already been contracted, and disbursed during the current Government administration.

Cusicanqui described that, of the 32 projects, 29 are in operation at different stages and three credits are in compliance with previous conditions.

The authority added that of those in operation, 17 are being executed or just completed and five are in the process of updating the design or supervision of the projects.

The minister mentioned that the Escoma-Pacobamba section, the first section of the Oruro-Challapata road, and the Building Resilience to Climate Change in Rural Families Programme are in execution.

He also pointed out the Mapiri and Sacambaya bridges; the credit for the Population and Housing Census, which is already being executed in its two operations; the Tarija and Uyuni airports, which have been put out to tender; and the Incahuasi Tunnel.

He added that the employment generation program is also being conducted through the National Fund for Productive and Social Investment (FPS).
