Cuban Gov’t changes Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment

Havana, May 23 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Government, at the request of the Council of State, decided to relieve Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz him from the post of Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX), but keep him as Deputy Prime Minister of the government.

According to an official communiqué broadcast on national television,

Oscar Perez-Oliva Fraga, current first deputy minister of MINCEX, has been appointed to the post of Minister.

Perez-Oliva, aged 53, is an electronic engineer. He has extensive management experience accumulated over 15 years in the foreign trade activity as CEO, deputy minister in this organization and director of Business Evaluation in the Mariel Special Development Zone.

Likewise, the appointment of Carlos Ruiz Jorge Mendez as first deputy minister of MINCEX was approved, according to the communiqué.

Carlos Ruiz Jorge Mendez, 36 years old, has a degree in Economics and has held different responsibilities in the foreign trade activity, from Specialist, Advisor to the Minister, General Director of Foreign Investment and current Deputy Minister of this entity.
