The Red Cross and the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) transmitted in a communiqué their concern to travelers and other potential victims and agreed to call on these people to avoid exposing themselves to the risks of mountain activities in unauthorized and highly dangerous areas.
These situations -added the communiqué- entail a risk to life and require deployments of rescuers, for which reason, ‘before a tour, it should be verified that the company is formal, with guides accredited for their knowledge, skills and experience to act in an emergency situation’.
For its part, the Costa Rican Red Cross pointed out the importance that the population in general takes the necessary measures to avoid accidents or any other situation that could put them at risk.
