The MGAP decided to do so based on “the agro-climatic situation in the areas affected by excess water and floods that occurred in April and May and the existing weather forecast.”
The measure, defined shortly after the end of a similar one due to last year’s drought, will free resources from the Agricultural Emergency Fund for producers in some areas of the departments of Rocha and Treinta y Tres, the digital website Ámbito reported.
The effects of the recent rains and floods complicated the situation of several crops, including rice and soybean harvests.
A road emergency is also in force due to damage to rural roads caused by the floods.
