UN agencies recorded more than 30 attacks on educational centers this year, nearly 200 thousand young people lacking access to education, while four thousand teachers remain unemployed.
The insecurity has also reached other provinces, where the agency has not yet quantified the impact.
However, humanitarian organizations support delivering school meals, benefitting almost 400,000 children since the beginning of the year.
The UN estimates that at least 5.5 million Haitians will need humanitarian assistance in 2024, an increase from the 5.2 million estimated before the escalation of recent months.
The organization also warned of a disproportionate burden of the current context on women, after rape rates skyrocketed due to unsafe conditions in many displacement sites.
In response, humanitarian organizations organize prevention and awareness activities while identifying survivors and ensuring they receive appropriate care.
