In a conference given at the headquarters of the PIT-CNT trade union center, the peace activist, who lives in Israel, stressed that Washington is the main supplier of arms to the Israeli State.

“The international mobilization, pressuring and accusing the U.S. government for its complicity, can turn the balance in a positive direction,” he expressed.

He said that halting the shipment of armaments and ammunition to Tel Aviv could force it to allow a cease-fire in Gaza.

The historian warned that the current conflict could lead to a regional war “with unpredictable results, disastrous for the lives of all the peoples of the region.”

Leibner argued that the Palestinian people in Gaza are in one of the most dramatic moments of their existence.

“At this moment hundreds of thousands of people are on the brink of death, and only external pressures, outside Israel and Palestine, can stop that,” he said.

The expert described the war suffered by the Palestinian population as genocidal.

The most urgent thing at this moment is the broadest and most energetic mobilization possible around the world for a cease-fire and the immediate entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza, he said.

He also emphasized calling for “the release of hostages and prisoners of all kinds, on both sides,” and “the return to their homes of hundreds of thousands of Gazans and the reconstruction of their homes and their lives.”
