Jose Alberto “El Canario” pays tribute to Cuban music with new CD

Havana, May 22 (Prensa Latina) Dominican singer-songwriter Jose Alberto "El Canario" pays tribute to Cuban music and bolero, Intangible Heritage of Humanity, with his album "Rodando Por El Mundo" (Rolling Around The World), which invites the harmonic exquisiteness of valuable interpreters.

Along with outstanding artists with a rich musical oeuvre in genres such as salsa, merengue, son, and vallenato, the singer celebrates the 2023 Declaration of the bolero granted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The single “A Medianoche” (At Midnight), to be released this Wednesday, was first recorded by Cuban musician Benny More in Mexico and is included in the CD along with hits composed by Armando Manzanero, Vicentico Valdes, and Rolando Laserie, among others.

It is a pleasure for me to continue this series of tributes to Cuban music, and it is a double pleasure when it comes to bolero, a genre that never goes out of fashion and has been declared a heritage,” the musician said.

He stated that the bolero emerged in Santiago de Cuba and is one of the most international and current Latin genres. Thanks to Cuba, Mexico, and all nations that have made the bolero great forever.

Participating in the album were Gilberto Santa Rosa, Víctor Manuelle and Charlie Aponte (Puerto Rico), Jorge Celedon (Colombia), Milly Quezada and Sergio Vargas (the Dominican Republic), and Pablo Milanés, Alejandro Almenares, Alexander Abreu, Los Guanches, Azabache and Magic Sax Quartet (Cuba).

“Rodando Por El Mundo” was recorded in recording studios of Santiago de Cuba, Havana, Miami, New York, New Jersey, Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, Bogot, Mexico City, and Madrid.
