May 17 was the deadline for the reception of applications for the post, and more than 100 candidates confirmed their candidacy during the process.
After selecting all 15 candidates, 12 will be eliminated, three will remain, and the Interim Prime Minister of Haiti will emerge from them. He and the president of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT, in French) will rule the country.
Gérald Germain, Garry Conille, Lucmane Délille, Iswick Théophin, Smith Magny, and Ernst Pierre Vincent submitted their documentation.
The CPT launched the process a few days ago by opening the registration process.
A press release from the President’s Communications Office stated that this candidacy is not open to everyone.
Under Article 6 of the April 3, 2024, Agreement, applications must be submitted by the CPT sectors or that accept this document.
