“It is unlikely that the so-called green growth promoted by the Europeans is likely to succeed without our uranium products,” Studennikov said on Wednesday in statements to the Sputnik agency.
For the diplomat, many European countries are so obsessed with the idea of harming Russia that they can even act to their detriment, and the desire to prohibit the signing of new contracts for the purchase of Russian uranium is framed in that same “suicidal logic.”
Artyom recalled that Brussels acted similarly when it tried to harm Russia by prohibiting gas supply through pipelines, plunging the EU into an energy crisis, with energy prices breaking records for many months.
The diplomat assured that if the bloc also prohibits the import of Russian liquefied natural gas, Moscow will not be left without customers. “Any attempt by the West to interfere in our trade with the majority of the world community is doomed to failure,” he predicted.
According to Studennikov, Brussels’ failed strategy in the energy sector has led national economies to be in bad shape, with a worsening of living standards and social tensions.
Previously, Belgian Energy Minister Tinne van der Straeten stated that the EU would stop signing contracts with Russia for the supply of uranium for nuclear power plants.
