Slovenia supports ICC arrest warrant for Israeli officials

Ljubljana, May 21 (Prensa Latina) Slovenia supported Tuesday the warrant arrest issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim Khan against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

War crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Israel and Palestine since October 7, 2023, must be prosecuted independently and impartially, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry stressed on X.

Accountability is essential to prevent atrocities and ensure peace, the text stated.

The Ministry stressed that Slovenia strongly supports the ICC and welcomes this development in investigating the recent situation in Palestine.

Khan called for arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, and Hamas leaders, including political chief Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, and military chief Mohammed Deif.

Israel continues its brutal offensive in Gaza despite a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the enclave.
