Al-Adgham, who noted the friendly ties between both nations, made these statements on Monday within the framework of an event on the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.
At the meeting, also attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Josefina Vidal, National Institute of Hydraulic Resources President Antonio Rodríguez praised Kuwait’s support for Cuba in the hydric sector.
He pointed out in this regard that the cooperation from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (Kfead) began in 2003 with the execution of works in the aforementioned field in Santiago de Cuba, Holguín and Havana.
The diplomat explained that through this important mechanism, five loans have been granted worth more than 102 million dollars altogether, and more than 86 million dollars, equivalent to 84.7 percent, have been executed to date.
With the financial contribution of Kfead, a study for the comprehensive solution to the flooding on Havana’s Malecón (Seawall) has been satisfactorily implemented, Rodríguez pointed out.
He noted that through soft loans, projects have already been executed for the rehabilitation of water supply systems in Santiago de Cuba and the city of Holguín.
With the contribution of financial credits, Havana’s aqueduct and sewage networks were also rehabilitated, in phase one, among other achievements, which benefit the population with water supply, he added.
The present and future of Kfead collaboration also extends to the construction of more water tanks, and the rehabilitation of supply networks and water treatment plants. On May 13, Cuba and Kuwait celebrated 50 years of diplomatic ties, with the common will to continue to promote relations of friendship and cooperation between both nations.
The two States promote collaboration projects in fields like health care, biotechnology, water resources, environment, investment protection and culture.
