The event, which took place in the early hours of this morning, occurred next to a hotel where members of the security forces of the municipality are staying, according to a report by the radio station Blu Radio.

Due to the explosion, some houses suffered structural damage, the information added.

This is the second incident involving an explosive device in the southwest of the country in the last 72 hours.

Due to the detonation of a car bomb last Friday in Miranda municipality, in Cauca, two people lost their lives, among them a 12-year-old minor, while two others were injured.

According to RTVC Noticias channel, this locality has been the target of several armed actions and harassment by the Dagoberto Ramos structure of the Central General Staff (EMC), which is present in this area of northern Cauca.

Even though the Government and this guerrilla structure agreed on a ceasefire as part of the agreements of the Dialogue Table installed between the parties, the President of the country reversed the pact last March 20 in the departments of Cauca, Valle del Cauca and Nariño.

This was in response to an EMC attack against an indigenous minga that resulted in the death of a social leader.

Recently, the Government acknowledged that it is only negotiating the possibility of a peace agreement with a part of this armed group and that its leader, Iván Lozada, is not at the dialogue table.
