Honduran President congratulates Abinader on his re-election

Tegucigalpa, May 20 (Prensa Latina) Honduras’ President Xiomara Castro congratulated on Monday her Dominican Republic counterpart, Luis Abinader, on Sunday's election victory that led him to a second term in office until 2028.

In a message written on X, the leader expressed her gratitude to the Dominican people for their democratic vocation expressed at the polls.

Abinader was re-elected on Sunday in the first round according to data provided by the Central Electoral Board (JCE).

According to the JCE, Abinader and the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and allies registered 58.3% with 64.1% of the polling stations counted, followed by former President Leonel Fernandez (27.6%), and Abel Martinez of the Dominican Liberation Party (10.7%).
