In a note published by the state-run ACNC news agency, the ministry said the test added new tensions to the deteriorating global security situation and fueled the arms race among nuclear powers.
Last Thursday, the National Nuclear Security Administration announced that the United States had conducted a subcritical nuclear test, the third of its kind under the current administration.
In this type of test, less than the minimum amount of nuclear material necessary to generate a chain reaction is used, making it possible to conduct studies under conditions similar to a real atomic explosion without actually carrying it out.
The DPRK Foreign Ministry said it is a dangerous act that makes the world security environment more unstable (…) and has serious negative repercussions on the strategic balance among the major nuclear powers.
Pyongyang accused Washington, with these and other acts, of adding new tensions among the nuclear-weapon states and fomenting an arm race.
