Diplomatic sources informed that Aballe and the entrepreneurs highlighted the possibilities of increasing bilateral cooperation in this sector, especially with the southern state of India.
The parties discussed new relations based on training, participation in events, exchange of experiences and delegations, and the opening of more Ayurvedic medicine centers in Cuba.
Aballe explained the current conditions of the Cuban healthcare system, the development of traditional medicine in Cuba, and the government actions to promote health tourism in Cuba, according to the Cuban Mission in New Delhi.
The chargé d’affaires a.i. detailed the Ayurveda experience in Cuba that resulted from the cooperation with the Indian government.
Thanks to that cooperation, Cuba opened in 2019 the first Panchakarma Center in Latin America, located at the La Pradera International Health Center.
In December 2022, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), under the Ministry of AYUSH, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cuban University of Medical Sciences of Havana (UCMH) to establish an academic collaboration.
