The event, organized by the Paraguayan Indigenous Institute, which is the governing body on the matter, will take place at the Integration House, the IP Paraguay agency detailed today.

He added that, in this context, the meeting will be led by the president of the Paraguayan Indigenous Institute, accompanied by representatives of the National Chancellery, the National Secretariat of Culture, the Secretariat of Linguistic Policies and the Paraguayan Institute of Crafts.

Representatives of the Mercosur Member States and Associated States will participate, as well as the Executive Director of the Mercosur Institute of Public Policies on Human Rights and representatives of civil society organizations and Indigenous Peoples, she added.

The Meeting of Authorities on Indigenous Peoples of Mercosur was created in July 2014, with the function of coordinating discussions, policies and initiatives that benefit the indigenous peoples of the Mercosur States and institutional as well as promoting their cultural, social, economic, and political interconnection within the framework of the regional integration process.

It is made up of the heads of the Directorates, Secretariats, institutions or equivalent government areas with main competence in matters of rights and public policies for indigenous peoples and by the heads of the human rights directorates or equivalents of the Chancelleries of the States, Parties and Associates who address the topic.
