Journalists will not be allowed to wear national emblems in Paris

Bern, May 17 (Prensa Latina) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) informed today that Russian and Belarusian journalists accredited to the Paris 2024 Games will not be allowed to wear national emblems, nor the athletes of their countries.

The same applies to media personnel, as well as to all spectators, the IOC press office said.

In this way, press personnel are limited to wearing their national colors, this has not been officially established or applied by one hundred percent of accredited officials but is also part of the tradition of the multisport events.

Last December 8, the world sports governing body announced that athletes from these nations could participate in the Paris 2024 Games under a neutral flag.

This implies that they will have to refrain from undertaking any activity related to national symbols, they will not be able to participate in the opening ceremony and their medals will not be reflected on the official board, among other things.

Due to all these limitations, it is expected that only 55 Russian athletes at the most will participate in the Paris Games when the usual delegations sum up hundreds of participants.
