Israeli-Palestinian conflict will have electoral impact in the US

Washington, May 17 (Prensa Latina) Voters from diverse populations, including Latinos, consider the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to be negative for global politics and the global economy nowadays, including that of the United States, as well as for the elections on November 5.

A poll by the Los Angeles-venue Hispanic daily La Opinion found that 46% of those voters are of the opinion that the war’s impact on the aforementioned, while 43% specifically say that Israel’s offensive against Hamas in Gaza affects US policy.

When broken down by segment, Latinos are among the highest percentages (48%) who see the conflict as affecting global stability, U.S. policy (43%) and US debt (44%).

According to the survey, 35% of Hispanics also believe that the war will have an impact on elections and a similar percentage noted that the whole scenario will have repercussions on the issue of racial equality in the United States, while 42% assume that there will be negative consequences for human rights.

In over seven months of Israel’s escalation in the Gaza Strip, the number of Palestinians killed, wounded or missing in the coastal enclave exceeds 118,000, with losses of approximately USD$ 30 billion.
