Germany suggests sending aid via temporary dock in Gaza Strip

Berlin, May 17 (Prensa Latina) The leader of Germany's Left Party, Martin Sirdevan, suggested on Friday sending humanitarian assistance to Gaza through a temporary dock under construction.

Sirdevan and Bundestag lawmaker Kornelia Möhring said their country should step up efforts to mitigate the consequences of the humanitarian catastrophe and civilian starvation in Gaza.

Germany must become a leader in humanitarian support for the Palestinian people, as it can do the same as the United States and other countries, the German politician added.

Sirdevan proposed providing money, technology and logistics, as well as the supply of ships, food and personnel to use the under-construction dock to bring cargoes to the narrow coastal strip. Local media, however, pointed out that the coastal facility is directly linked to the Pentagon.

The German television station noted that up to 1,000 U.S. troops are deeply involved in the USD$320M-worth construction.
