The diplomat declared this Wednesday to the press that the meeting of SCO foreign ministers will be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on May 20th and 21st.
Zakharova noted that during this meeting, the SCO foreign ministers will address the current situation and prospects for further development of the association, as well as issues on the international and regional agenda. In addition, the spokeswoman added that Lavrov will hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the gahtering.
The SCO was founded in 2001 and so far includes eight member states: China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Iran recently joined the body, and Belarus also aspires to join.
