The international aid organization stressed in a press release issued in this capital that Israeli attacks since October 2023 have caused at least $210 million worth of damage to Gaza’s water and sanitation infrastructure.
It warned that the situation was exacerbated by the recent Israeli raid into the southern town of Rafah, which forced more than 360,000 people “to flee to already overcrowded shelters and camps.
At least five of our life-saving water and sanitation projects in the Strip have been severely damaged or destroyed by the Israeli attacks, the aid organization criticized.
Oxfam noted that many people are drinking contaminated water, while many others, including children, suffer from the bites of insects that swarm around garbage.
Oxfam’s Middle East Director, Sally Abi Khalil, said, “The situation is desperate, with so many people in Gaza living in fear and being forced to endure inhumane and unsanitary conditions caused by sustained Israeli bombardment.
The activist condemned the Israeli operations that have “destroyed all aspects of life in Gaza through military attacks and sieges while destroying what little civilian infrastructure remains.
