Regarding the tragedy, Lula has scheduled for Thursday a meeting of the Council for Sustainable Economic and Social Development to discuss the situation in the territorial division, with the participation of businessmen and other members of the group.
The most recent report of the state Civil Defense indicates that 147 people died and 127 were missing due to the bad weather in that region.
Likewise, 806 people were injured, 76 thousand were rescued, 80,826 remain in shelters and more than 500 thousand are displaced.
The note assures that 447 municipalities are affected and that the water level is expected to rise to approximately 5.50 to 5.60 meters in Porto Alegre, the state capital, in the next few days.
The state of Gaucho recorded the passage of two tornadoes over the weekend. Winds up to 140 kilometers per hour hit the city of Cambará do Sul, in the Serra Gaucha region.
Authorities called the population not to return to flooded areas and to remain in safe environment.
