The operators of this sector have mechanisms and measures to face electric outages, now adapted to this scenario, nevertheless, there will be effects on services such as Internet and mobile telephony, according to a press release from the Chamber of Infocommunication and Technology (Infocom).
Fiber optic networks and other technologies such as coaxial cable operate in some localities without electricity service, even though the failures may occur in areas with uninterrupted availability of this energy.
The Costa Rican telecommunications entity explained that the availability of the service depends on direct electricity in the places from where the network centers or hubs of the provider companies operate.
In fixed and mobile networks, the energy backups that operators uses, in addition, have a limited duration and are not designed to stand extensive and continuous power outages, Infocom added in its statements.
