Bibliographic exhibition celebrates Casa de las Americas’ anniversary

Havana, May 10 (Prensa Latina) Cuba’s Jose Marti National Library (BNCJM) opened on Friday the bibliographic exhibition celebrating the 65th anniversary of Casa de las Americas, with diverse materials that reflect the evolution of this emblematic cultural institution.

Photos, posters, publications, among other pieces belonging to the BNCJM’s patrimonial funds, enhance the Gallery of the Central Hall. In the presence of the intellectual and president of Casa de las Americas, Abel Prieto, the director of the literary organization, Omar Valiño, highlighted the working relations and friendship that unite both entities; hence, it was necessary to pay tribute to so many years of promoting cultural integration in a scenario of innovative ideas.

Valiño further invited visitors to see the exhibition 1964. “La eclosión del cartel cultural cubano,” by the graphic designer Pepe Menendez, on display at the “El Reino de este Mundo” Gallery. The author of the exhibition gave details of it, which is also a tribute to the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) through its great poster tradition.

The opening was further attended by directors and officials from Casa de las Americas and the BNCJM.

Muestra bibliográfica en Cuba celebra 65 años de Casa de las Américas

La Habana, 10 may (Prensa Latina) La Biblioteca Nacional de Cuba José Martí (BNCJM) inauguró hoy la muestra bibliográfica 65 aniversario de la Casa de las Américas, con diversos materiales que reflejan el devenir de esa emblemática institución cultural.

Fotos, carteles, publicaciones, entre otras piezas pertenecientes a los fondos Patrimoniales de la BNCJM, prestigian la Galería del Pasillo Central. En presencia del intelectual y presidente de Casa de las Américas, Abel Prieto, el director del organismo literario, Omar Valiño, destacó las relaciones de trabajo y amistad que unen a ambas entidades, motivo por el cual se hacía necesario el homenaje a tantos años impulsando la integración cultural en un escenario de ideas renovadoras.

Asimismo, Valiño invitó a presenciar la exposición 1964. La eclosión del cartel cultural cubano, del diseñador gráfico Pepe Menéndez, expuesta en la Galería El Reino de este Mundo. El autor de la muestra abordó detalles de la misma, la cual constituye además un tributo a los 65 años del Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos (Icaic) a través de su gran tradición cartelística.

Asistieron también a la inauguración directivos y funcionarios de Casa de las Américas y de la BNCJM.
