The rules of the Russian Magna Carta stipulate that the State Duma (Lower House of Parliament) must approve the candidacy of the prime minister, his deputies and his ministers.
Meanwhile, the president, after consultations with the Federation Council (Upper House), must appoint the ministers of the Interior, Emergencies, Defense and Justice, as well as the foreign relations minister.
The president has two weeks from his inauguration to present his candidacy for the post of prime minister to Parliament. However, it is already known that the State Duma plans to agree on it during a plenary session scheduled for May 10.
Putin was re-elected for a new term in the elections that were held from March 15 to 17, obtaining 87.28 percent of the votes.
