During a speech at a ceremony on Capitol Hill in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, Joe Biden reiterated his support for Israel and also stated that “there is no place for anti-Semitism” in American universities, scene of strong protests and sit-ins against the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
He also claimed that his commitment “to Jewish people´s security, security of Israel and its right to exist as an independent Jewish state is unwavering. Even when we disagree.
The Democratic leader condemned anti-Semitism in the United States, as well as hate speech and threats.
Despite Biden’s harsh words on protests at the country’s universities, the president also defended freedom of speech in an attempt to maintain balance on this sensitive issue in the Nov. 5 runup.
Biden needs to keep the young people´s vote safe for himself and the youth is the most critical of his administration’s continued support for Israel.
