Following the supreme commander-in-chief’s instructions to increase the combat preparation of non-strategic nuclear forces, the General Staff said that several measures would be taken during the exercise to work on preparing and using non-strategic nuclear weapons.

The military institution also noted that the drill is also a response to provocative statements and threats made by certain Western officials.

The maneuvers aim to maintain the preparation of personnel and equipment of units and guarantee the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Russian state unconditionally, the Ministry added.
